2026 Happy New Year! 🎊🎉🥂
I hope you’re all off to a running start, chasing your dreams and facing your challenges for the new year.
Seems this blog is mostly dealing with Mojo’s medical issues and there’s always something else cropping up! Now we’re facing chronic UTI’s and putting her on a prescription diet as the labs are trending towards kidney disease. This can be mitigated with the proper diet for the most part.
This last week she also developed an underarm rash, from gawd knows where, and looks like it’s resolving after about a week. I just tried to keep it clean and monitored her scratching.
In the meantime, enjoy Mojo’s 2nd ever Pupucchino!
💛 New Years Resolution: Trust your intuition!
Etsy Shop Grand Opening! 🌟🌟🌟
IndigoPug Drygoods Grand Opening!
Happy Holidays!
We are thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of IndigoPug DryGoods, a one-of-a-kind shop celebrating original, hand-painted art, featuring:
🩵 Infamous Classic “Enzo the Dog” paintings by the late Dwight Harmon!
🌟 Animation Background Paintings by yours truly.
Mojo’s ready!
Skip the big box, support small —
visit our new Etsy shop for hand-painted goodies.
This season marks the opening of a small, curated collection of original pieces honoring the late Dwight Harmon of Los Angeles, along with a few select works by yours truly, from my many years in animation.
Dwight Harmon, infamous artist and beloved instructor at Art Center College of Design, was an avid dog lover. His “Classic Enzos” class demo paintings are highly collectible! (Dwight was known to eat paint during his lively class demos!)
Each piece is original, hand-painted and distinctly its own. Collectors, dog lovers and admirers of independent art will find something to enjoy.
We invite you to explore this quirky boutique collection and support small business during the holiday season.
Please note: because of the delicate nature of these works, and severe weather in parts of the country, orders placed now are not guaranteed to arrive before Christmas.
Cheers!
Team Doozi & Mojo 🍔
A quick thanks…
We thank all of you who have been so generous with your ongoing support as we continue to pay down our vet bill.
Go Fund Me - starts at $0.00
Any amount is appreciated!
What Really Happened to Mojo's Fundraiser — and why we still need your help ⚠️📉⚠️
The fundraiser said it was “successful” at $560 — (even though the estimate we submitted was between $10-12,000. You can see that estimate below on the INVOICE link). But it was terribly mishandled and the full costs of Mojo’s care were left unpaid.
Mojo is doing wonderfully now! Her surgery went well, and she’s happy, healthy, and enjoying life again.
But the fundraiser was a complete disaster. The layout and presentation was carelessly handled by the non-profit (you know who you are) and unexpectedly terminated early. That it ended prematurely, irrelevant photos and text contributed to the huge shortfall. The full costs of Mojo’s care were left unpaid!
The public was lead to believe it was successful and had no knowledge of the condition the surgery left her in, the distress she had to endure or the debt I was left with.
While no fundraiser is guaranteed, this was a traumatic event I had to endure along with the distress of the surgery itself and the fragile condition Mojo was in for an extended period of time.
☎️ I also received a disturbing, aggressive and unexplainable bullying phone call from the head of the nonprofit, which added to the challenges behind the scenes as the fundraiser disintegrated!
I’ve included screenshots of the fundraiser (with identifying info blurred) as realized on a cell phone, (with no image of Mojo!), how I wanted it in the fundraiser and how it was finally presented. It occurs to me the non-profit might have been ashamed to include photos of her genitalia in any of the photos, where the cancer was! Really?! Could that be the reason for the angry phone call? I don’t know!
We are now raising funds to cover the remaining veterinary costs so Mojo can continue thriving. Any contribution — big or small — makes a real difference. Please help me revive this fundraiser to get the good surgeon paid.
Thank you for being part of Mojo’s journey. For those who want more context, I can share additional documentation, including screenshots, invoices and notes I made during the conversation privately with journalists, legal advisors, or community leaders.
Contact me here.
THANK YOU! Love, Mojo🍔

The Ocean...finally! 🌊🌊🌊
I’ve finally been to the beach for the first time in my life! After languishing in a breeder’s backyard in the desert for 3 yrs., then going through 4 major surgeries and procedures, I’ve finally healed enough so I’m safe running free on the ocean and it’s glorious!
So many sniffies to explore! I even snuck into the kitchen of the closed cafe on the beach and surprised the owner! My recall went out the window!

YES, we still need help!
Mojo has gone through a big cancer surgery that saved her life. Now we need to whittle down the vet bill. I am on a fixed income and cannot do this without community help. I'm asking only a few dollars only if you are working and you have it.
Waggle $11.25 is the smallest donation but it goes directly to the vet.
GoFundMe is Donation Protected and accepts smaller amounts.
Thank you to all her donors. Doesn't she look great after all, thanks to you! 👏👏👏
It takes a village! 🏡🌳🏠🌲🏘
🛁
Mojo is feeling much better and recovering like a champ! Her fur is growing back over her wounds and she’s her old self! She got her first bath yesterday since surgery!
However…our troubles aren’t over…we still need help. We have a massive surgery bill and have been fundraising for over a month now, and it’s like turning a battleship! We hardly see any movement!
Waggle Crowdfunding has gotten our first donation though, which is very exciting and we’d like you to join in. It will make you feel good, cuz…it’s for a very good cause! The surgeon saved Mojo and she has the chance to life a full, puggie life now!
Be part of our village! 🏡🌳🏠🌲🏘
Cancer Survivor! ☘️☘️☘️
Mojo just underwent a second, more extensive surgery: MCT tumors were found on her shoulder, tummy, and vulva, which needed a complete reconstruction.
I was urged to book with the surgeon right away as his schedule was filling up fast and this couldn't wait. I didn't know of any other surgeon who could perform this intricate type of reconstruction successfully either. As time wasn't on our side, I jumped at the chance for this life-saving surgery.

Lady Parts🍑🍑🍑
We’ve just gotten the news!
Mojo had a cyst on her Lady parts (vulva) and we had a quick surgery last month to take a biopsy. The labs came back positive - Mast Cell Tumor (MCT). This was unexpected but the good news is that it’s low grade, which means it is slow growing, and she will be able to live a normal doggie life.
She is to have a vulva episioplasty…basically a nip and tuck. Dang, just as we were getting into a great training routine, but she’ll be up on her feet in no time.
Read details on her fundraising page, where you can read more details and donate there….or here if you are able.
Love, Mojo🍔
Surgery completed...home and doing well! 💅
This procedure was to remove a growth on her vulva (Owwie!) as it was getting bigger and waiting would make it a bigger deal, so we raised the money, thanks to Free Animal Doctor and scheduled right away. Thank you FAD for your support all the way!
The procedure was done by Dr. Bliefer at Rose City Vet, who has operated on Mojo before. The staff at Rose City are wonderful and clearly concerned if you have questions, no matter how small.
😴 Mojo was just put under a sedative, and given a local. She was woozy most of the day but today is her old self.
Now we wait a couple of weeks for the labs results. I’d expected stitches, antibiotics and pain killers but none of that was needed.
The open area after the cyst was removed was closed with a layer of liquid adhesive, creating a seal for the skin to heal underneath. I think the edges were too far apart and stitches would have pulled on the skin, and the stitches could pull out. This is a clever and very clean way of closing the wound. So it almost immediately created a crusty scab.
The first image was taken about 1 yr. ago, then proceeded to enlarge. The 3rd photo shows post-surgery with a great amount of swelling and the liquid adhesive already forming a protective scab.
Before surgery, not having had breakfast, she was rummaging for a snack. Later at home, still loaded, she gave me a very dour gaze!
Mojo's 1st Puppuchino! Yum!🍦🍨
Mojo's 1st Puppuchino!
Please donate to Mojo’s upcoming surgery.
All proceeds go directly to 🌹RoseCity Vet!
Ack! Another fundraiser! 💰
🍔 We are needing another (hopefully easy) surgery for a mass removal, which I’ve explained in the MojoDoozi Fundraiser tab. Please help if you can. If you are unable to donate at this time, lease share if you would. Thanks!
From bad to worse.
achooo-oo--ooo! BUMPS!
Here we go again! Pug Allergy Season, with endless scratching! I couldn’t get in to the vet for another week so I tried to mitigate Mojo’s scratching and itching with Duoxo wipes, medicated shampoos and benadryl, but if anything it only helped slightly.
The usual go-to is a cytopoint injection, which I managed this time at 100.- a pop. We’ve had to do this a few times over the last 3 years and it works wonders…inside of a few hours the bumps, redness and scratching were gone!
Mojo and I were calm once again.
Coyotes!
Pasadena has scores of coyotes terrorizing the neighborhood!
We live in a dead-end courtyard and this is the place in the back parking area where they made their den last year and had pups and are trying again this year. But we had it closed off as there are 3 small snack-sized dogs on the property. The circled area shows the entrance to the den, which goes back along the inside of the fence.
Here is one trying to get to that den. I’d scared it off moments ago but it circled back along the side of the property.
I have no desire to hurt these beautiful animals but they have become pests and no govt. agencies, Fish & Game, etc. nor Humane Societies will do anything about it unless they bite a human. I’ve called them all. They are allowed to come and go as they please according to the law. But they have recently attacked my neighbors dog, even though he had it on a leash. They were ambushed and the pup sustained serious damage, needing 17 stitches and a drainage tube..
That was the final straw for me, it was just too close! Many of us neighbors have bought Coyote Vests. When I first saw them I thought them gruesome, but now I see them in a different light. I feel my little girl stands 1/2 a chance, along with the large stick and pepper spray I carry. Walking the dogs used to be a pleasure, but now I’m constantly on the lookout, they could be hiding anywhere and are NOT afraid of humans. They have become emboldened.

Here is my girl with her new outfit. She isn’t bothered by it at all. But does it make her butt look fat??
The fundraisers have been...fun, but they are over for now!
A Special Thanks!
We have raised everything we needed for Mojo’s dental, thanks to Free Animal Doctor, whose donors have been incredibly generous and contributed the lion’s share of the expenses. We are so grateful to the people who have stepped up, and especially that there are entities so exceptional as to offer a platform capable of bringing together the ancient allies of dog and man.
We thank the many people who initiated this effort, who donated to get us started and gave us the courage to fight for the help we needed, Paws 4 a Cure and Onyx and Breezy. Thank you so much, we are so grateful for your help!
Thank all of you who supported us during the contest and voted your hearts out…you know who you are. And Alli, what more can I say, couldn’t have done it without you!

Stay tuned for blogs on Mojo’s new diet and her new…ahem…outfit.
Well, I had to …
💘 Love is in the Air
finally, out of surgery & recovering! But...
Woozy, but feeling no pain. The surgery went really well, took over an hour. I was concerned about her tiny trachea being damaged, but no problems!
She’s got pain meds, anti-inflammatories and antibiotics, all good! Sutures everywhere! Clean teeth!
Her appetite is excellent, as always!🥕🥦🥩🍗
Don’t bother me…🤒🤕😴
Ahem…
As we’ve only raised 1/2 the money needed to pay for surgery, we’re still raising money through FREE ANIMAL DOCTOR and still in the contest AMERICA’S FAVORITE PET, but the competition is getting tough! We were in 1st place for a while, but now, though we’re in the Top 10, we’ve been bum-rushed down to 2nd place! Waa-a-a!
…we’re only #2! Bwaa-a-a-!
Please share generously if you would. Maybe with your morning coffee? ☕️☕️☕️ You’re scrolling anyway, just do a good deed or two if you could. We can use the help and you're all we’ve got!
Thanks!
Love, Mojo🍔

⚡️Oh Boy! It's nearly here...Surgery Update!
2 more days until surgery! We had our pre-ops yesterday, labs came back normal and we’re counting down! That’s it. LOL!
Oh yeah, we have another great way to donate, with Free Animal Doctor, a crowdfunding-for-pets platform. Our fundraising is down to the wire. We’ve only raised 1/2 of what we need. Can you push us over the top?
We also still need you to be voting for America’s Favorite Pet. There is a large cash prize that WILL put us over the top and it will only cost you a minute of your time to vote for my little girlie.…you can vote everyday! Mojo won 1st Place in Round 1. Yea! 🏆
Let’s keep her there in Round 2. GO!
Today…
Today we went for a walk along the Laurel Canyon River Walk. Some river, very funky because of all the fires, 🔥🔥🔥, but it can get gorged during heavy rains. It always smells so good, a scent I can’t define and I’ve never smelled it anywhere else in LA. Does anyone know of it?

Though we’ve had a little help, it was ree-e-e-eaally slow during the holidays so we have a long way to go to raise the funds for Mojo’s surgery in 2 weeks, Jan. 24th.
🆘 I’ve found a way you can help without it coming out of your pocket!
I have entered MojoDoozi into a contest that could bring in more than enough to cover surgery costs…but only if you vote. America’s Favorite Pet contest voting starts today, it’s just a couple of clicks away. Can you please vote for her and most importantly, share this link with as many people as you can, because the contest is decided on by viewers…that’s you!

Can you please help get us reach our goal?

Doggie Dental: Looking for Answers!
Does your dog have bad breath?
Is there noticeable tartar?
Do you hesitate to have your dog put to sleep just to get a cleaning that can run hundreds of dollars?
Have you been wanting to take care of your dog’s teeth but been overwhelmed with all the products out there, toothbrushes, pastes, water additives, food additives, Greenies? (Glutinous ”toothbrush” made of starch. Do they really work because they look like a big green toothbrush? or is this marketing?
Does your dog refuse to let you anywhere near his mouth anyway?
I tried ProLab, a green-ish powder sprinkled on their food for 90 days (and $90.!) and didn’t see a difference and also noticed their ads had images with dogs teeth before and after that looked suspiciously Photoshopped to me. 🛑 I do not endorse this product!
What to do…?
I began to research and there were so many products out there, some chemical, some organic, some herbal, some with actual disinfectants. I made a list of all the products and their ingredients then gave up because it was overwhelming and I didn’t find faith in any of the products. And I didn’t have money to waste experimenting.
It so happens my pup needs her teeth cleaned and I was thinking non-anesthetic, maybe more traumatic but cheaper, but then it can’t get under the gum line either, where decay can happen. I was stumped.
An answer…
Quite by accident, I had my choices narrowed down by my nutrition vet as she noticed my dog had a broken canine and a cracked molar and recommended I go to a dental specialist she suggested. At my visit with him, he came to the same conclusion and more and explained his findings.
I was given an estimate that bowled me over, because it did included some unexpected but greatly needed surgery/extractions in addition to a cleaning. The broken canine had to be removed and until he saw the extent of the crack in the molar using a Cone Scan while she was asleep, wouldn’t know the extent of the repair needed. I totally trust this doctor’s expertise, thus my fundraiser began. (See our dental journey and more about the doctor here).
to brush or not to brush…
As for brushing he doesn’t recommend any toothpastes or additives and says it comes down to brushing the teeth just with water to get rid of plaque. So we are on this journey of getting Mojo used to the toothbrush and I will keep you posted as to her progress in another post, but here’s where we’re at now:
Shaping sequence…
Success!
Shaping her behavior…
Right before a meal, I have her sitting, and I say “brush” or “touch” , offering the brush, making sure she touches it with her mouth (she got that right away as she saw the treats) and then I give her a treat. I do this 3 times, using her food right before I feed her, so she associates the brush with something good. Now she eagerly chomps down and will put it totally in her mouth. Whew! So far, so good!
It is a “shaping” behavior, rewarding any reaction that is close to the behavior you want. That’s how dolphins are trained, etc. Every few days I will up the anti and increase the amount of time she is willing to engage with the brush. I may try a doggie paste if necessary to get her to accept the brush easier without traumatizing her.
🛑 Do NOT use human toothpaste!
Dr. Plotka’s (found on Amazon) are the best brushes I’ve ever used for myself and I got the children’s size for my pug, which might be too large, but the bristles are soft but very effective and comfortable on the gums. Doggie toothbrushes are super hard for some reason. Who wants that?! It should be as pleasant as possible. These toothbrushes I do recommend for humans, at least.
